Finance Assistant | £30,000 pro rata

Our client is an established organisation operating within a professional, fast-paced business environment. The organisation works with a diverse range of businesses and stakeholders and is continuing to develop and grow its operations.

We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join a friendly and collaborative finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous finance administration experience who enjoys working accurately, supporting colleagues and dealing confidently with a variety of financial queries.

Key Responsibilities for the Finance Assistant

• Process and maintain accurate records of invoices, expenses and other financial transactions.

• Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, including invoice and payment processing.

• Monitor outstanding balances and follow up where required.

• Manage financial transactions associated with customers, suppliers and occupiers of the organisation's premises.

• Respond to financial queries from customers, suppliers and colleagues, escalating issues where appropriate.

• Carry out regular bank reconciliations and assist with general ledger administration.

• Support credit control activities, including monitoring overdue payments and following up outstanding debts.

• Maintain spreadsheets and undertake data entry, filing and general financial administration.

• Communicate professionally and effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

• Support the finance team with ad hoc duties and project work.

• Assist with maintaining and improving finance systems and processes, including identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through technology.

• Provide appropriate support with IT and business systems where required.

• Ensure fixed asset procedures are followed correctly and in accordance with organisational policies.

• Undertake other reasonable duties to support the finance team and wider organisation.

About you as the Finance Assistant

We're looking for someone who is organised, methodical and highly attentive to detail, with previous experience working in a finance office or similar environment.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a finance administration or similar role.

• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.

• Strong organisational and time-management skills.

• Experience using finance systems, or the ability to quickly learn systems such as Xero.

• Good numerical and administrative skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• The confidence to deal professionally with customers, suppliers and colleagues.

• A collaborative and supportive approach to teamwork.

• Flexibility and willingness to take on new tasks and responsibilities.
